Aspects of an applied theory of archiving.
Architect's legacies not only end up in architecture museums and architectural art archives, but also in public archives, whose fields of activity and documentation goals go beyond architecture and urban planning. Based on archival practice and using examples, including the legacy of the architect and urban planner Hardt-Waltherr Hämer (1922-2012), this lecture will present archival concepts of evaluation and indexing and question their suitability for architecture-related collections. In doing so, the gap between the pragmatics of archiving and scientific reflection will be bridged to a certain extent.
