Cure and Care. Health at the core of Architecture
As part of the exhibition, the Portuguese architect and architectural historian ANA TOSTÕES talks about the architecture of the twentieth century and the modernist understanding of healthy environments, which led to the construction of so-called health machines.
Ana Tostões is an architect, architectural historian and professor at the Técnico Lisboa. Her field of research is the theory and history of 20th century architecture and construction, in which she develops an operational, reuse-oriented perspective, focusing in particular on post-war buildings and on the relationships between European, African and American production. She has published books and academic articles on these topics, curated exhibitions and served on juries and academic committees.
