In the third exhibition space—the Forum—we would like to invite you to enter into dialogue: with us, with each other, with experts in lectures, debates and workshops. Over the duration of the exhibition, the room will be used in a variety of formats; its design will grow with the results and interactive contributions. For the “Expert lecture in dialogue“, architects are invited to briefly present their projects—which we are showing in the exhibition—and then enter into a dialogue with the audience about planning approaches, processes and hurdles.
In the twentieth century, the successes of medicine, but also the building norms for this type, progressed so quickly that hospitals have long since become extremely complex. Only a few and usually only large, highly specialized architectural firms are thus still in the position today to deal with the medical, organizational, and technical requirements for the construction of new hospitals, and to do so within the formal and temporal specifications of competitions and the awarding of contracts. How do offices regard the topics „Healing Architecture“ and „Evidence Based Design“, and how do their planning processes and/or priorities change after the pandemic? On the topic of the hospital of the future, we speak with Alex Retegan and Hans Larsson (Office for Metropolitan Architecture, Rotterdam).
